You may have noticed recently that Dave’s Coffee has not had one of our favorite beverages in stock… GT’s Organic Raw Kombucha.
Well, unfortunately, our friends at GT’s have run into a slight problem.
As you may, or may not, know… Kombucha is a fermented green tea. And, the byproduct of fermentation is alcohol. As long as the alcohol level stays below 0.5% the bureaucratic regulators stay happy.
In a recent batch of Kombucha, someone, somehow found that the alcohol level was above 0.5% and whammo! Product gets pulled from the shelves all over the country!
Here’s the “official” word from the GT’s web site:
We are investigating reports of the potential for slightly elevated alcohol levels in our Kombucha products that may be occurring after the product has been bottled and has left our facility. Although our products are tested to be compliant at the time of shipping, a subsequent increase in alcohol levels could potentially cause the product to go above 0.5% causing potential labeling issues. We are working quickly to identify the possible causes and which lot codes and/or regions are being potentially affected.
I know, it sounds like a tacky, wee-hours of the morning, Sham Wow, pitch line… but we have a treat for you this Fourth of July weekend!
First off, we’ve set up an Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich stand right outside the front door of Dave’s Coffee!
Carissa has baked up soft, gooey, yummy cookies… and we’ve sandwiched scrumptious Vanilla ice cream in between for a mind-numbing treat!
These delectable treats will ONLY be served from 2:00pm until 6:00pm (or, until we sell out).
So, drag your sun-burned body off the beach and stop into Dave’s for this limited-time treat!
Also, DJ GK (aka Glenn Kendzia) will be spinning the beats outside on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Glenn is a former Dave’s Coffee barista and recent star of the “Tweeting Your Dave’s Coffee Order To Go” commercial…
